Seit dem 26. Oktober arbeitet Bottazzi an dem 16 Meter hohen und 7 Meter breiten Gemälde. Ende Dezember soll das abstrakte Riesenbild fertig sein, das bis dahin mit weichen, runden Formen in zarten Rosa- und Gelbtönen bedeckt sein wird. Die ersten Abbildungen erinnern teilweise an die menschenlosen, sanften Naturbilder der Amerikanerin Georgia O’Keeffe.

Du haut de son échafaudage, dressé à Bruxelles sur la façade aveugle d’un immeuble de la place Jourdan, le peintre trace à la peinture à l’huile de grandes courbes colorées, où l’ocre et le jaune dominent, sur un support de béton recouvert de toile. L’oeuvre abstraite de 16 mètres de haut pour 7 de large, entamée début octobre, devrait être achevée d’ici un mois si la capricieuse météo belge le permet…

French mural painter Guillaume Bottazzi is bringing his art to Etterbeek’s Place Jourdan in a big way: a 7 meter wide by 16 meter tall mural which he is painting entirely by himself. He is inviting everyone to come down and watch him at work. And, in two months when the mural is complete we will be able to enjoy its anxiety-lowering effects “akin to dopamine.” The renovations scheduled for the Place Jourdan will be colour-coordinated with the mural.

MONUMENTAL ARTWORK HIGHLIGHTS GUILLAUME BOTTAZZI BRUSSELS EXHIBITION
Famous French artist Guillaume Bottazzi will create a monumental artwork in Brussels that is going to highlight his exhibition at the city’s Artiscope Gallery. The piece will be created at the emblematic Place Jourdan, which is widely considered as the most “European” of all Brussels public squares. This modern square is located in the so-called “Brussels bubble” – at the edge of the European District of the Brussels-Capital and it’s a place popular both among Belgians and members of the European Parliament and other officials of the EU institutions. In 2017, the Place Jourdan will be renovated by the commune and the Bottazzi’s artwork will contribute to the improvement of the space. The transformation of this public area is a joint project realized by the Federal State and the Brussels-Capital Region with the aim of enhancing the prestige of Brussels as the capital of Belgium and also – of Europe. Guillaume Bottazzi will be working on the piece for about two months in order to complete the project…

Après New York et Hong Kong, c’est au cœur du quartier européen, et plus précisément place Jourdan, à Etterbeek, que Guillaume BOTTAZZI s’apprête à déposer ses pinceaux. L’artiste n’en est pas à son premier coup d’essai puisqu’il a déjà signé plus de 40 œuvres dans l’espace public…

L’administration communale entend rénover cette place située au pied du quartier européen et l’œuvre en question doit prolonger les efforts de valorisation menés par la commune. Ce projet est né d’une collaboration entre l’Etat fédéral et la région de Bruxelles-Capitale et vise à promouvoir le rayonnement de Bruxelles en tant que capitale de la Belgique et de l’Europe..
