Shingyoji Jodo Buddhist Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto is home to a collection of ceiling paintings by Ito Jakuchu. This fall, from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8, the paintings will go on public display for the first and only time ever, in an event organized by the Kyoto Heritage Preservation Association. Shingyoji, which is ordinarily closed to tourists, has never held a public display of their cultural properties, making this a unique opportunity for fans and scholars of Jakuchu to view his work.
